Is a love letter a good way to get your ex back?
My ex broke up with me just over 3 weeks ago, due to depression he got from my past… We were together for one year, he knew I had been with one other person before him, but it caused problems and eventually he broke up with me because he was so hurt. We were both in devestation and I have had so many times when I just run into his arms and we both cry together. He assures me he still loves me but he thinks if we get back together then everything will just come back to him, why we broke up in the first place. Believe me, this guy is like a soul mate to me, I love him more then words can express and I can’t imagine life without him. When I try to get him back it just seems like it hurts him even more and I don’t know what to do. I’ve researched into this and most people are just saying to ignore him and to act like you can be fine without him, but will this work in this circumstances? I know he loves me… I just got to show him that we can work through things. I have sent him a message saying
"Nevermind, this might come to a shock for you, but I am totally cool about the breakup now, I suppose I saw it coming, we were having lots of problems. But you know, if we stay friends, it’s just going to cause more problems. So I am going to stay away from you for now on, and if I mean something to you then I’ll wait for you to speak to me in your own time…
I hope you the best for the future."
But now I am not sure if it is the best thing to do! I don’t know if that is the right approach. I have written him a very long letter, expressing why I fell in love with him in the first place, the problems we worked through, why he means so much to me, and why I don’t think we should give up what we have. But I’m not sure if that will make the situation worse…
Advice please?
And also, we are in college, same course together. What makes it worse is there are no girls in the class I can go to, and I’m worried if I sit by another guy, I will make him jelous, will that make things worse aswell… Or make him want to be with me more =(?

It’s not about just backing away and moving on. There is a way to do it without making it look like you are just pushing him out of your life. I would agree that this a different situation but the same rules still apply. What happened in your past there is nothing either one of you can do about it. That’s why they call it your past. He’s going to just have to accept that there is nothing that can be done about it. The site below has some good advice for a situation like this.
